After months of silence, Cruz backs Cornyn as minority whip

Despite his past reluctance to take a stance on fellow Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn's bid for Senate Minority Whip, newly elected Sen. Ted Cruz said he's now on board following Cornyn's win.

"I was very pleased to support fellow Texan John Cornyn for Republican Whip," Cruz said in a statement. "Sen. Cornyn is a friend and critical ally, and he will serve as a passionate advocate not just for Texas, but for common-sense conservative principles to help pull us back from the enormous fiscal and economic challenges facing our nation."
