Family urge missing man to get in touch

FAMILY and friends of a 25-year-old from Withywood who has been missing for a week are becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare.

Mike Hares, 25, left the home he shares with his father Dave, 70, in Riverland Drive last Friday, August 3 and has not been seen since.

The unemployed loft insulator, who drove away in his blue Vauxhall Zafira, has not made contact with any of his family or friends, which they say is extremely unusual.

Police are investigating the disappearance and his family is urging him, or anyone who knows where he is, to get in touch.

His mother Julie Hares, 49, an administrator who lives in Ashton, told the Post: "We are so worried about him. This is totally out of character and not at all like him.

"He has never gone away before without a family member or friend knowing where he is.

"Mike, if you are reading this, please just make contact. We don't care if you are in any sort of trouble, we just want to make sure you're ok.

"To anyone who has seen Mike – please just let us know where he is."

Mrs Hares said her son had been quiet in the last few weeks as he had been going through a hard time after breaking up with his girlfriend and losing his job.

"He's been a bit down so we're not sure if he just wanted to get away for a bit," she said.

"My sister lives in Scotland and he's got a cousin in Swindon, but no-one's heard anything."

Mr Hares' best friend Mitchell Baker, 25, has been trying to track him down via website Facebook.

He made a "missing" poster and tried to get people to share it with their friends online.

"He has never done anything like this before," said Mr Baker, who lives in Gay Elms Road, Withywood.

"He popped out on Friday morning, came home, and then left again in the afternoon and never returned. We are all getting really worried now and just want to make sure he is ok."

A police spokesman said: "Mike Hares was reported missing to us on Monday. We are investigating and enquiries are ongoing."

Mr Hares is white, around six foot tall, with black curly hair.

Anyone who has seen him, or Mr Hares himself, should contact police on 101.
